"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons (and daughters) of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission…"—Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1213)
Infant baptisms are celebrated on the first Sunday of the month as part of the celebration of the Holy Mass. Children over the age of reason, general over 7 years old, go through the Rite of Chrisian Initiation adapted for children, culminating with baptism at the Easter Vigil.
Parents and Godparents are required to attend a five-week teaching on Baptism prior to their child receiving the sacrament. Classes are held on Tuesday at 6:30pm during the time of Lent only (beginning of spring). Call the office for our next catechism of Baptism .
