Dear Friends, let me share with you a bit about the people who have so generously donated the funds for the painting of our church. Joyce Miller Owens, beloved wife of Ronald Owens and sister of Hal Miller died in 2010. Joyce was born and raised near Ogden, Utah and married Ron in 1950 shortly after moving to Portland. She was an executive with the Bureau of Land Management for 35+ years. Ron Owens was president of Rich and Thine Tobacco Wholesalers but together he and Joyce raised and raced champion greyhounds setting track records during the heyday of greyhound racing at the Multnomah Kennel Club. When Ron died in 2012, his will stipulated that their estate be donated in honor of Joyce. Hal Miller, her brother set up the Joyce Miller Owens Charitable Foundation whose mission is to fund non-profit projects that provide a tangible legacy in Joyce’s name. Since Hal Miller’s death, his wife, Hilarie Miller, her sister Anne-Marie Banasky and Hal’s longtime friend, George Ray Jr. have continued as trustees of the foundation. Hilarie went to school here and belongs to this parish. Hal Miller, her husband, died two years ago and his funeral was here in this church. Please, pray and support the Joyce Miller Owens Charitable Foundation! A St Peter Church Parishioner of many years - Naomi Joy - has know these people of the foundation also for many years and suggested the painting of the interior church to the Joyce Miller Owens Charitable Foundation several months ago - they agreed - and now it’s painted. Hallelujah! 

Queridos amigos: Quiero compartir con ustedes un poco de la historia de las personas que tan generosamente donaron los fondos para la pintura de nuestra iglesia. Joyce Miller Owens, esposa de Ronald Owens y hermana de Hal Miller falleció en 2010. Joyce nació y creció en Ogden, Utah y se casó con Ron en l950, un poco después de haberse venido a vivir a Portland. Ella era una empleada ejecutiva de la Compañía de Manejo de Tierras por más de 35 años. Ron Owens fue presidente de la compañía de Tabaco de ventas al mayoreo Rich y Thine. Ron y Joyce se dedicaron a criar perros campeones de carrera en las cuales dejaron record en los tiempos en que las carreras de perros eran famosas en el Club Canino de Multnomah. Cuando Ron falleció en 2012, dejó estipulado que su fortuna fuera donada en nombre de Joyce. Hal Miller, su hermano, creó una Fundación Caritativa Joyce Miller Owens cuya misión es cooperar en proyectos sin lucro financiero que provean un legado tangible en honor a Joyce. Desde la muerte de Hal, su esposa, Hilarie Miller, su hermana Anne Marie Banasky y amigo de muchos años de Hal, George Ray, Jr. han continuado como administradores de la fundación. Hilarie fue a la escuela aquí y pertenece a esta parroquia y cuando su esposo Hal falleció su funeral fue en esta iglesia. Por favor, recen y suporten la Fundación Caritativa Joyce Miller Owens.
