“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” —Matthew 19:5-6
The sacrament of matrimony brings a man and a woman together in marriage. By receiving matrimony, a couple enters into a sacred covenant. By their marriage, the couple witnesses Christ’s spousal love for the Church.
Because of the seriousness of the commitment of marriage and its sacramental nature, couples enter into a period of preparation that begins at least six months before the ceremony. Preparations include setting a date, meeting with the priest, possibly working with a mentor couple through the Marriage Preparation process, attending an Engaged Encounter retreat, studying natural family planning, etc.
To inquire about getting married at St. Peter's Catholic Parish, please contact the parish office as soon as you are engaged.
