The seniors of the parish gather weekly for Mass, lunch and bingo during the school year.
Everyone is invited to Holy Mass which is celebrated at 11:30 am on Wednesdays in the church and lunch is served in Methodius Hall.
Lunch is a community operation!
Seniors who participate regularly are divided into crews and take turn cooking and providing side dishes. There are three crews, each taking one Wednesday a month. On the fourth Wednesday it is potluck time. Everyone brings a dish to share.
Some favorites include meat loaf, spaghetti, and baked ham with scalloped potatoes. Desert is also provided. Coffee and hot tea are provided right at the table.
Crew responsibility includes setting the tables and kitchen clean up. The staff rotate through as dishwashers, even the pastor! Pat Mattsen adorns the room with seasonal decorations
Everyone is asked to contribute $3 for lunch which covers the cost of the main dish.
During the summer, the senior program only operates once a month. By September everyone is eager to visit with each other again.
Bingo is played after the lunch dishes have been cleared. Bingo cards are 25 cents each. Ray, our experienced caller, settles in at the head table and calls out the numbers. Bingo is played until about 2 pm.
Bingo is played only when senior luncheon is held.
